TATIANA LEONOR

CELLO FACULTY

Born in Covilhã, she joined the Corpo Infantil da Beira Interior at the age of eight and later became a member of the Coro Misto da Beira Interior. At the age of 12, she entered the Escola Profissional de Artes da Beira Interior, where she studied cello with Professor Miguel Matias and Professor Filipe Quaresma.

She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Music – Cello at the Escola Superior de Música, Artes e Espectáculo in the class of Professor Jed Barahal, and later earned a Master’s degree in Music Education from the Universidade de Aveiro. She received 1st Prize in Chamber Music at the Prémio Jovens Músicos (Intermediate Level, 2005).

She was a member of the Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras and the Orquestra Clássica de Espinho. She regularly collaborates as a guest musician with cello chamber ensembles and national orchestras.

Since 2011, teaching cello has been her professional passion and primary focus. She continuously updates her knowledge through courses and conferences in Portugal and abroad. She also develops various pedagogical activities that complement regular lessons. Her teaching approach aims to meet the technical and artistic demands of cello performance while fostering enjoyment and a genuine love for music. Her students have won numerous prizes in cello competitions across Portugal. She is regularly invited to lead cello masterclasses and workshops, serve as a section coach in orchestral training programmes, and contribute to national cello orchestra projects. She is the Artistic Director of the Orquestra de Violoncelos Paulo Gaio Lima.

In addition to her musical career, she completed a Yoga and Meditation Course for Children at Sunshine Yoga School in Lisbon.

She currently teaches at the Escola Profissional Metropolitana and at the Academia de Música de Lisboa.
