APPLICATION

APPLICATIONS FOR 2019 ARE NOW OPEN! DEADLINE TO APPLY IS APRIL 30th

COST AND TUITION

During the course of the 9-day festival students will receive 4 private lessons, daily chamber coachings, and frequent elective offerings. Classes are taught in Portuguese and English.

Total tuition for the festival is €500. Our festival sponsors have further subsidized this rate for European citizens (€230 tuition), and Portuguese citizens (€130 tuition). Tuition includes daily snacks, admission to museums, transportation to all concerts and outings, and the official festival t-shirt.

HOUSING

The local community of Bendada is a core supporter of the Festival, and kindly serves as guest families for the students of the Festival, hosting them in their houses. Availability is limited and is offered on a first-come-first-served basis. Housing is free but there is a €50 housing processing fee. Students must be 16 or older to be eligible to stay with a host family. There are no exceptions. If you are interested in staying with a host family in Bendada, please be sure to let us know on the application form.

The closest hotels available are in the nearby and cities of Belmonte, Sortelha, and Sabugal, a 20-minute drive from Bendada. Public transportation is very limited, so students not staying in Bendada should plan on having a car. Students younger than 16 should be accompanied by a parent or guardian and seek hotel accommodation.

MEAL PLAN

Bendada does not have restaurants. There are just two cafes and two small grocery stores that provide a limited selection of snacks and groceries. Because of that, students are highly encouraged to enroll in one of the festival’s meal plans. During the duration of the Festival, lunch and dinner will be served at the music school, provided by a local restaurant.

Students have the option of choosing between two meal plans:

  • Lunch-only plan (9 meals): 60€ total

  • Lunch and dinner plan (18 meals): 120€ total

Those who choose the Lunch-only plan will need to find dinner in neighboring cities’ restaurants. Most students staying in Bendada will also have access to a kitchen at their host houses.
